As I look outside at the sunshine and beautiful weather on a holiday weekend, I must ask myself why I am in the office writing another blog and adding content to my website or posting links to my primary blog on this website on many many other blogsites. Well the reason is somewhat self serving I admit. I am adding links to get more traffic. More traffic means more eyes on the property I have listed and may help to put a smile on one of my client's faces. But I am also working to get my PR, or page rank, up. PR has to do with how well my site fares as far as certain search terms that a consumer may use when looking for information about real estate in Upstate South Carolina. It can be boring, repetitive and seem pointless.
To quote my wife "Will it sell a house?"
Nothing will sell a house except price, condition, location etc etc. No magical amount of blogging will cause a buyer to say yes. But getting my listings seen more will help. And I have another darker more ulterior motive for blogging. This is my website and I can say what I want and state my viewpoints as I want and however I want. Well within reason. But all my tin foil hat wearing, anti big business, anti big government, animal loving, redneck, blue collar, what you see is what you get attitude can shine brightly here.
But that will not help if no one ever finds this blog right? That is why I am so proud that this week 2 of my many many blogs ended up in places that will help to get more visitors and bring up my page rank:

I am sure that anyone that is reading this has heard of the Washington Post, but to tell the truth I am not as proud of that as I am of being on Notorious Rob's blog. The post on the Washington Post was nothing but what I call link building and honestly, I think any agent can write blogs on Trulia and end up eventually getting syndicated to someplace similar. I have had a post featured on ActiveRain also, but that only lasts several hours and then someone else will have their post featured.
To be mentioned on Notorious Rob's blog is like a high school football coach being mentioned on NFL Today or ESPN by Paul "Bear" Bryant. Well other than the fact that Coach Bryant has passed away while Mr. Hahn is still alive and kicking. I am sure the eyes are rolling about how important this really is for me, as a real estate blogger and REALTOR. Read on and let me convince you why this is important.
Rob Hahn is well known in the RE.net (websites all about real estate). He graduated from Yale, though I do not hold all that fancy book learning against him LOL. It is the fact that he has held some pretty high positions in the real estate industry and has written for some very well known newspapers and websites. The fact that he thought enough of my article to have me included among some other brilliant people is great. And while I may never be as well known as Rob Hahn, it is a great compliment to be featured on his site.
Will it sell a house? Maybe, maybe not. Will I get more hits from it? Without a doubt! Does it mean I need to step up the quality of my blogging? Yes it does!
